Horace Kephart’s wife, Laura Mack Kephart wanted her ashes to be placed with her husband. She expressed this in letters to her children and it was written her obituary in 1954. However, it is unknown where her ashes were placed.
When George Masa died in 1933, it was his wish to be buried next to Horace Kephart. However, he was buried in Asheville. It is our goal to now reunite Masa, Laura and Horace! The Horace Kephart Foundation is humbly asking you to help us raise money for two grave markers which will be placed next to Horace Kephart’s grave at the Bryson City Cemetery. Your support will help us with the cost of the grave markers and the ceremony. Unveiling ceremony will take place May 20, 2023, 10:30am. All donors will receive recognition in the ceremony program. Thank you so very much for considering your part in helping us fulfill Laura's and George's wishes! -Libby Kephart Hargrave, great-granddaughter of Horace and Laura Kephart. |
